Spectre (James Bond 007, Daniel Craig)

London

Spectre (James Bond 007, Daniel Craig) Location

The latest installment of James Bond brings in some spectacular locations that will not fail to disappoint including Rome, London, Morocco, Austria and Mexico. Plenty of locations for the long distance movie hiker. Hints from the filming in production sees Daniel Craig with a new Aston Martin DB10, made for the film, which will likely see us with some on-location filming along the river banks of the Tiber in Rome.

Big Ben, Parliament Square and Westminster Bridge

Westminster | London | United Kingdom

Big Ben, Parliament Square and Westminster Bridge Location

The production crew for the film cordoned-off part of parliament square and Westminster Bridge for filming. This is one location while in London that, like most tourists and movie hikers, will be hard pressed not to visit. The iconic Big Ben and Westminster Palace containing the Houses of Parliament, the heart of British Politics, is a must-see. Guided tours of the houses of parliament are available. While photography inside the houses of parliament is highly restricted there are opportunities within the main hall and the staircase, your guide will instruct you where you can take photos. Gift shop and an excellent cafe with facilities is on site.

Full information including tours, tickets and opening times is available on the Parliament UK web site;

http://www.parliament.uk/visiting/visiting-and-tours/

The area is accessible by Bus or Tube at Westminster Station. While you can access the location by car there is no on-street parking directly on parliament square. Parliament Square is within the congestion zone charge.

MI6 Secret Intelligence Service Building

Vauxhall Bridge, River Thames South Embankment | London | United Kingdom

MI6 Secret Intelligence Service Building Location

A staple of the modern Bond films is the fictional MI6 building which is also the real MI6 building exterior in London. While it may have been subject to an explosion in the Bond movie Skyfall the building is still very much in place and appears in Spectre during filming on the river. As you can imagine there are no tours available for this building and it is, by all accounts, 'just an office block' though unusual in it's architecture with clear views available from Vauxhall Bridge looking towards the southbank of the River Thames. The location can be accessed by travelling to Vauxhall Tube station or by local bus.

For an alternative, while in the area, you could visit the Churchill War Rooms bunker and museum near Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament.
